Fundraiser Dinner
Last night our ward had our fundraiser dinner for Trek! It went really well (I wasn't there for the dinner but I am assuming it went great.)The parents come and eat a baked potato, pork or chicken, a huge roll, and baked beans. Then all the youth bring a dessert and they auction it off. I made a huge fruit pizza and Sam made an oreo cheesecake. Well "Sam made" is a strong word. (Sam hadn't actually even seen it until it was a day cooled off from cooking. He had a golf tournament) In past years, they would have deacons and beehives tend your kids at the church in the nursery. That had to go though. What do you expect when you put 4 deacons in a room with 20 kids. Chaos. Chaos is what happens. Then parents hear screaming and crying from their dinner and get worried. So, this year instead when we sold the tickets we handed them a list of the youth with their phone number. Parents would call whoever they want and then that kid will babysit for free at the parents home. (such a great idea mom!) Nobody called me until my mom volunteered me to babysit a little boy at our house with Booj. His name was Corbin. she would drop him off around 5:45 and pick him up up around 8:15. The poor kid. He was only three and little thing had just woken up from a nap. She brought him over with his own dinner and left quick. I asked him if he wanted to play or watch a movie or eat. He just looked at me and wouldn't move or talk. He was really really sad. Poor little buddy. I picked him up and took him upstairs. Booj wanted to watch Dragon Tales so we went upstairs and started the TV show. I gave him some toy dinosaurs. He still wouldn't move or talk. So I sat him down next to Booj on the couch and they watched Dragon Tales. Every once in a while he would start to laugh and I would smile at him. As soon as he saw me loooking at him laughing, his face went immediately serious. (That might have been the funniest part.) I kept asking if they were hungry and neither of them responded until about 7:30 and Booj was hungry. I picked the little guy up and sat him down at the table with the food his mom brought. (He never ate by the by) I ate a delicious loaded baked potato. After Booj ate though, Corbin warmed up and they played with toys and trains and batman capes and junk. When his mom came to pick him up, he asked why. Lol. I had a pretty good night and all the parents had a relaxing night. yay! (my dessert sold for 30 bucks!!) oh yeah he didn't talk until 8:00. Poor little shy fella.

You were so patient with him and kind. I'm sure he had a good time.....at least he didn't cry when his mom left. That's always tough when that happens.
